The Engine Temperature Warning Light
The Certified Auto Repair team wants to improve your safety when you travel. Our series “Listen to your car” will help you understand the messages your vehicle sends you.
The engine temperature warning light, usually represented by a red thermometer, comes on when the on-board computer detects an overheating that could cause permanent damage to the engine. This overheating does not occur without warning. Indeed, when the temperature of your engine raises, it is possible for you to follow the change on your dashboard. If your engine overheats, it may have to do with a coolant leak, an engine belt or some other issue. The key thing to remember is that you should stop your vehicle as soon as possible and turn off the engine.
